8 Cases of Dysgerminoma of the Ovary

Abstract
A clinicopathologic study was made on 8 cases of ovarian dysgerminoma treated at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Korea Cancer Center Hospital during 6 years from 1987 to 1992.
@ES The results obtained were as follows;
@EN 1. The mean age was 19.7 years(range;12~30).
2. Clinical symptoms and sighs were palpable abdominal mass, abdominal pain, abdominal distention, dysmenorrhea in order.
3. The symptom duration of patients before diagnosis of dysgerminoma was less than 12 months.
4. According to the FIGO classification of clinical staging, 6 were in stage I, 1 in stage II, 1 in stage IV.
5. No cases were associated with specific tumor marker.
6. All patients were managed by operation and 4 cases followed by chemotherapy, 3 cases followed by radiation land chemotherapy.
7. Seven patients are alive without evidence of disease from 9 to 64 months and oe patients is alive with disease after 12 months from the date of operation.
8. The toxicity of chemotherapy was relatively frequent, 5 cases could be manageable and tolerable for scheduled course of chemotherapy, but 2 cases were intolerable with severe leukopenia, bleeding and renal failure.
